App Privacy Policy

Friend in Store, Inc. (the "Company", "we", "us", or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes:

• The types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you download, access, or use the Friend in Store App (the "App"), including when you create and use an optional Friend Profile.

• Our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.

This policy applies only to information we collect in this App, in email and other electronic communications sent through or in connection with this App.

This policy DOES NOT apply to information that:

• We collect offline or on any other apps or websites, including websites you may access through this App.

• You provide to or is collected by any third party.

These other apps, websites and third parties may have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read before providing information on or through them.

Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, do not download, access, or use this App. By downloading, accessing, or using this App, you agree to this privacy policy. This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy). Your continued use of this App after we revise this policy means you accept those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.

Children Under the Age of 16
The App is not intended for children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 16 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 16, please contact us at privacy@friendinstore.com. California residents under 16 years of age may have additional rights regarding the collection and sale of their personal information.

Information We Collect and How We Collect It
We collect information from and about users of our App:

• Directly from you when you provide it to us.

• Automatically when you use the App.

Information You Provide to Us

When you create a Friend Profile or otherwise use certain features of the App, we may ask you to provide information:

• By which you may be personally identified, such as your first name, last name, email address, telephone number when you use phone/passcode verification, or another identifier by which you may be contacted online ("personal information").

• That is about you but individually does not identify you, such as store and in-store event preferences, Favorites, and Collection activity.

This information includes:

• Information that you provide by filling in forms in the App. This includes information provided when you create or update a Friend Profile, create or share a Collection, provide App feedback, or report a problem with the App.

• Records and copies of your correspondence, including your email address, if you contact us.

• Information associated with your Friend Profile. To create a Friend Profile, you provide your first name, last name, and email address. Only your first name is displayed on your Friend Card; your last name and email address are not public-facing. Your Friend Profile may also include your home city and member-since date.

• Stores, events, and other content you save or favorite.

• Collections you create, including Collection names, descriptions, and the stores or other content you add to them. Friend Collections are private unless you choose to share a Collection through a shareable link. If you update a shared Collection, your changes are reflected for people accessing that Collection through the shared link. If you delete the Collection, the shared link will stop working.

• Your responses to surveys that we might ask you to complete for research purposes.

• We do not collect your specific search queries.

• Authentication information used to access your Friend Profile, including information processed when you use Sign in with Apple or phone/passcode verification. A telephone number used for phone/passcode verification is used only to send an SMS login code and to confirm your identity before account deletion. It is not used for marketing, finding friends, or matching contacts.

Information We Collect Through Automatic Data Collection Technologies   

When you download, access, and use the App, we may use technology and service providers to automatically collect certain information about use of the App.

• Anonymous Usage Information. We collect anonymous information about how the App is used, including which stores, events, and Collections are viewed, saved, or shared. This information is not connected to your Friend Profile or other personal information and is not used by us to identify an individual user.

• Basic Device and Service Information. Our analytics service may receive basic technical information such as phone model, operating system version, device language, App version, and a scrambled device identifier. It does not receive your name, email address, telephone number, or account ID. Service providers that support authentication, account storage, and public store-information lookups may receive an IP address as part of providing those services. Public store-information lookups may reveal which store is being requested, but no user identity is provided for that lookup.

• Location Information. We do not collect precise or coarse location data from your device.

• Device Access. The App does not access files, photos, file metadata, mobile network information, or carrier information on your device.

We do not use information collected through the App to track your activity across third-party companies’ apps, websites, or other online services for targeted advertising, unless we disclose that practice and obtain any consent required by applicable law or platform rules.

How We Use Your Information
We use information that we collect about you or that you provide to us, including any personal information, to:

• Provide you with the App and its contents, and any other information, products, or services that you request from us.

• Fulfill any other purpose for which you provide it.

• Provide account or service-related notices and communications, if and when such communications are made available through the App or by email.

• Carry out our obligations and enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us.

• Inform you of material changes to the App, our services, or these policies, as appropriate.

• Enable you to create and manage your Friend Profile, Favorites, and Collections.

• Enable you to save, create, personalize, and share content through the App.

• Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, analyze, and improve the App.

• Understand, on an anonymous basis, how users interact with stores, events, Collections, and other App features.

The anonymous usage information we collect helps us improve the App and understand overall usage patterns.

Disclosure of Your Information
We may disclose aggregated information about our users, and information that does not identify any individual or device, without restriction.

In addition, we may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide:

• To our subsidiaries and affiliates.

• To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business, including providers that support authentication, account storage, analytics, content delivery, public store-information lookups, and other App operations.

• To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by us about our App users is among the assets transferred.

• We do not sell your personal information to stores, brands, or other third parties for their own marketing purposes. We may share information with third parties where you direct us to do so or provide consent.

• To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.

• For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information.

• With your consent.

• To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.

• To enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us.

• If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property, or safety of Friend in Store, our customers, or others.

Your Choices About Our Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Your Information

We strive to provide you with choices regarding the personal information you provide to us. You may contact us at privacy@friendinstore.com with questions about our collection, use, or disclosure of your information.

• The App does not collect precise or coarse location data and does not access files, photos, file metadata, mobile network information, or carrier information on your device.

Accessing, Correcting, and Deleting Your Personal Information
You can review and change certain personal information by logging into the App and visiting your User Profile.

If you have created a Friend Profile, you may initiate deletion of your account through Settings in your User Profile. When you delete your account, information tied to you is deleted, including your login information, telephone number and Apple sign-in link, profile information, saved stores and events, Favorites, and Collections you created. Shared links to Collections you created will stop working, and data stored on your device by the App is also removed. We intentionally retain no personal information tied to the deleted account, subject to information we may be required or permitted to retain by law. If you used Sign in with Apple, the App’s access through Apple is revoked as part of the account-deletion process. You may also email privacy@friendinstore.com to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you have provided to us.

Residents in certain states, such as California, may have additional personal information rights and choices.

Your State Privacy Rights
State consumer privacy laws may provide their residents with additional rights regarding our use of their personal information.

Data Retention
We retain personal information associated with your Friend Profile for as long as your account exists and as otherwise reasonably necessary to provide the App and comply with applicable legal requirements. When you delete your account, personal information tied to the account is deleted as described above. A telephone number used for phone/passcode verification is retained for as long as the account exists and removed from the authentication system when the account is deleted; a service provider may retain short-term security logs in accordance with its standard practices. Anonymous App usage information is not connected to your account or personal information and is currently retained for three months.

Data Security
We have implemented measures designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Personal information used to operate your account is stored using third-party service providers that support the App.

The safety and security of your information also depends on you. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the authentication methods you use to access your Friend Profile. Please also use care when choosing information to include in a Collection that you share with others through a shareable link.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet and mobile platforms is not completely secure. Although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information transmitted through our App. Any transmission of personal information is at your own risk. We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we provide.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy
We may update our privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we treat our users' personal information, we will notify you by email to the primary email address specified in your account and/or through a notice on our website home page.

The date the privacy policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. You are responsible for ensuring we have an up-to-date, active, and deliverable email address for you and for periodically visiting this privacy policy to check for any changes.
